This place felt happy and alive with beautiful social areas and plenty of outdoor amenities to keep you moving and active. The apartments and villas are spacious with plenty of windows for natural light. Everything was clean and neat. Looks like a wonderful place to spend your final years with or without assistance when needed.
During my search of many independent living communities in the Myrtle Beach area, Portside at Grand Dunes got my attention immediately. Now as a resident of 3 weeks, I am confident that Portside is my new home. I feel welcomed every time I walk in the front door, at the meals, and activities. The residents and staff are caring and respectful of each other. One thing I have noticed is that everyone speaks to each other with a smile on there face. I love it at Portside!
The staff is out standing. Abi,the resident services coordinator, goes out of her way to make you feel you are at home. We are so glad, we picked portside to live. Can not be happier
My mother received wonderful care at Port Side. Too many staff members to name individually. They were all wonderful, Professional and caring. it was a blessing to have them care for my mom. Thank you To all of them!!
Very nice facility! It was our first visit to any assisted living facility. We made an appointment just one day before so they were very accommodating. Since it was our first visit [name removed] was very informative about assisted living.
From my first tour right through my decision to move to Portside, my experience has been wonderful. Every time I met with Susan I had my list of questions and she answered every one with candor, enthusiasm, understanding and clarity. If she didn’t have the answer she would find it. All the staff I met were friendly and helpful. Most staff remembered my name after only hearing it one time. This is remarkable with a name like mine! So I’m eager for my next adventure to begin.
Absolutely love the place would be more interested in the villas which I understand. There is a waiting list, but I am not in a hurry. I need at least a year to downsize and sell my home.
I am/was a resident of this facility I like everything about Portside at Grande Dunes. They're very nice, considerate, and caring. Food is good. It's a clean and fun place. We love each other. We're a family, and it is home. Their activities are great.
I wish I could convince my dad not to move. He looks better than he has in years and has gained some mobility back.
Can’t begin to say how thankful I am that a community like Portside at Grande Dunes exists. My dad had a fall that resulted in a brain bleed and a fractured femur. After weeks of rehabilitation at Grand Strand he was going to be released to go home in a wheelchair for 6 weeks of nonweight baring limitations. However, the house my parents live in is not set up for a wheelchair. We were able to secure a place for him at Portside for respite care. It was a God send for our family. The staff was so accommodating and helpful in managing his care while he was there. It was bittersweet when he left to come home. Grateful he was able to come home but leaving the security of knowing someone was looking out for him 24/7 was rough. Those of you dealing with aging parents know the difficulties of caring for parents who are determined to maintain their independence in their house while you are doing all you can to protect them. It’s a constant struggle. Thanks to the staff and all those who came in contact with my dad while he was there. You were lifesavers!
I visited this facility My tour at Portside at Grande Dunes was great. I love the property and I love the apartments, but I don't love the price. They're very pricy. In comparison to the other places, this was the best. The floor plans that they offer were great. I'm looking for a two-bedroom, which they can accommodate. The balcony is great because I really want some kind of outsource that I can go to when I need to go outside. One of the biggest sellers is the kitchen. There's so much storage. There was the saltwater pool that you can access from the beach. I have a dog that I will be bringing with me, and they have a lot of trails. I was totally impressed with Portside. They have classes and things, and I love all of it.
Portside at Grande Dunes is a full service facility for Seniors, allowing easy transitions between Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care. The staff is so caring and helps to make the residents feel comfortable and cared for. My parents started in Independent then moved to Assisted, and then my Mom was in Memory Care for 10 months. The first floor care givers and med techs in Assisted Living were wonderful to my parents, caring and making them feel at home. I can't say enough about the staff in Memory Care, so compassionate, thoughtful and helpful. It's not an easy job, and the staff there take pride in what they do. There are too many to name, but I thank each and every one for their kindness and compassion for my Mom and my family. Thank you so much, keep doing what you are doing, you are making a big difference in people's lives! Sincerely, The Family of Ann Sayer
My wife and I recently toured Portside at Grand Dunes. What an amazing tour was provided by Lauren Wolf. She provided a wealth of information about Independent Living at Portside. Her knowledge of the industry and the community, facility, amenities and social connections was very evident prior to, and throughout the tour. Everything Lauren described was verified as we toured all aspects of the community. We happened to be there when happy hour was beginning. The real-time picture of the residents and social interaction was exciting to see. The bar has been set by the Portside community. We were very excited to capture a vision of the life style that could be ours in the future. Thank you Lauren for your exellence in presenting your community.
An amazing place. It was a great transition place for my mother from CA in [date removed]. Started not knowing true condition mentally, or physically after my father's death, since I was in SC and was being told different things. I had to start with her placed in Assisted Living , fully furnished, etc. Spent 2 - 3 weeks in that section of Portside. Then we moved her in Independent Living section where she did great. Now, 16 months later, we have moved here into [community removed] in MB, another great stepping stone for her, and in the next 15 months she hopefully is ready to purchase her own home in the MB area. One step at a time. My mother situation is unquie, just as each one is their own situation. My mother is 70 years old and really just had to regain her Independence in life after 48 years of marriage with my fathers sudden death. She struggeld with the loss and sense of reality and hope. Portside was AMAZING. The staff was TOP RATED, caring people. I was proud to know my mother was living in a place so beautiful and well maintained overall. The kitchen staff was amazing and did a 5 star job each and everyday. I have NO complaints towards Portside at Grande Dunes. Activities were endless and well thought of , dining experience was restaurant style with beautiful ambiance for everyone. The apartment/room was perfect for our situation, but they offer so many different sizes to fit others needs.
My father says he is very happy at Portside at Grande Dunes. The people are extremely caring and responsive. Enjoys happy hour and exercise classes.
My mom will be moving in soon and up until this time we have had a great, fabulous experience with the staff and the other residents at Portside. Portside at the Dunes is luxury living at its best. Everyone has been just wonderful, we really look forward to my mom having great next chapter living at the Dunes.
We were so satisfied with the professional and skilled team at Portside. From guiding us through the initial process and what to expect, to patience with our questions, we could not be happier with our experience. We had the pleasure of working with Lauren, and she was truly exceptional in every way. Highly recommend!
Lauren was helpful with the upfront sales of the unit with my family and me and everything like that. Any other comments that I can think of having formulated with me yet because I’m pretty much a new person here I’m just getting to know the territory and the people and most this week. I’ve been doing moving anyways so I really haven’t had a good chance to grow any roots anywhere to filter with other people
I reached out to many facilities for my grandma and have had little to no luck. That was until I found Portside! I have to say Lauren Wolfe reached out immediately with information. She was very informative and fast with responses. Lauren was able to answer all my questions. Portside is a very beautiful community with a lot of nice amenities. I really like Portside because it has the assisted living too. Once my grandma is ready to leave Florida then we will be at Portside!
My mom (92) has lived at Portside for a year now and is very pleased with her choice. She first downsized from her house of 50 years in upstate NY to a two bedroom condo by the ocean for 6 years, but when she stopped driving, socialization became more challenging. Now she has a spacious one bedroom apartment in independent living that accommodates her baby grand piano, communal meals in a lovely dining room with restaurant style service, multiple activities and personal care services including physical therapy right in the building, a beautiful salt water pool on the grounds, as well as transportation to local shopping, dining, and entertainment. This is most definitely an upscale senior community. I live just 4 minutes away so am in and out all the time and always find the staff friendly and professional and residents warm and welcoming. I highly recommend Portside and frankly, think I should have looked into it sooner as my mom's mood and even cognitive abilities seemed to improve due to socialization. I also took my widowed group to tour and one gentlemen moved in right away. He seems happier and more relaxed. Living alone, eating alone, even watching movies at home alone takes its toll and then there is the fear many seniors have of a health emergency and no one around to help. I would urge people to go look sooner rather than later so they understand what options actually exist.
We just moved into Portside. The entire staff has been supportive and we have found a very welcoming and friendly community. Portside is quite literally like living on a cruise ship.
The overall facility amenities and activities were the reason we chose Portside at Grande Dunes. FYI of all the facilities that we visited in the Myrtle Beach area this was the nicest by a lot.
This place was great. Convenient to hospitals and medical facilities. Wonderful staff
I love the warmth of residents and staff. The concierge is a huge benefit and blessing to visitors and residents. The activities director and staff do an excellent job along with transportation to and from church, appointments, grocery stores and banking.
Love living in beautiful Portside at Grande Dunes independent living. Easy to make friends and join in so many activities. I can be as busy each day as I wish. Beautiful apartment is a quiet haven for reading, watching television, recharging my energy, and well being. Staff is friendly and very helpful. I agree with one of my friends here: We live in a palace.
Portside Assisted Living staff are the very best!!! These are a group of caring and compassionate individuals who care for my parents. The facilities are as beautiful as the people who work there!!!
My mom found her new home at Portside and she couldn't have been happier. The building and grounds are beautiful, new, clean, and well maintained. Her apartment has everything you would need including a kitchen island, balcony, walk in closet. The food is excellent, staff is wonderful and there are plenty of fun activities to keep her busy. Most importantly, the other residents are all so friendly and welcoming and everyone helps each other out. Knowing my mom is in a place like this gives me peace of mind.
My mom and stepdad have been very happy at Portside, they are very engaged and stay busy. Physical therapy is on site and they are staying mobile in the independent care side. So much better than being home alone with not much interaction. They are eating much better too! It has been a blessing for our family.
Portside Assisted Living is exactly the warm and welcoming community we wanted for our mom. The facility is clean and well-maintained with cheerful gathering spaces that encourage connection and activity. But what truly sets it apart is the attentive and compassionate staff. From the moment we arrived, we felt reassured knowing my mom would be in caring and capable hands. Their dedication and kindness make all the difference. Highly recommend.
The staff are great and very caring. The food is good for an institutional setting. Everything is kept very clean and transportation is available if I need it. I have a small apartment with kitchen, living area, bedroom and bath. A little over 600 square feet. I also. Am able to have my cat with me. I don't participate in a lot of the activities other than trips to local restaurants or grocery stores. There are art and calligraphy classes as well as games played through out the week . plenty to keep busy
I am deeply grateful for the exceptional care and support provided by the staff at Portside during my mom's brief stay. Special thanks to Lauren in Sales for ensuring a seamless transition to her new home. The commitment shown by the nurses, tech guys, concierge, and Director Dorothy in making my mom comfortable and happy was truly remarkable. Even in challenging moments with mom, their kindness and compassion shone through. During her last days, the combined efforts of Crescent hospice and the Portside nurses, especially Suzanne, provided our family with immense comfort. Thank you all, and Lauren, thank you for becoming a true friend.
From the very first time I visited Portside, I have been so impressed with the people that work there, they are so kind and caring. I was also struck with all the activity going on when I visited. There was always something happening! The last thing I will say was that the aesthetics of the whole place was phenomenal! My mom is so happy there and she has made so many friends. In my estimation, it’s the best place in Myrtle Beach. Very reasonable prices as well. We couldn’t be happier!!!
My parents are in a two bedroom at Portside and our really enjoying their apartment there. They are fairly new in 2024 and have gotten to know the staff, and many new residence. It is wonderful to know they’re close by and there’s a great staff and medical services at Portside. Wonderful location with so many nearby restaurants, stores, and wonderful things to do nearby in Myrtle Beach.
Portside was best overall place for mom in Myrtle Beach, SC. From the start the staff at Portside Grande Dunes was excellent. No complaints at all with staff or facilities at Portside I recommend Portside Grande Dunes to everyone I talk with. Mom deserves the best in her later years.
The leadership at this facility is exemplary. The facility and staff are outstanding….the absolute best the area has to offer. If you are thinking about moving a family member to Portside…do not hesitate!
Staff is great! Everyone has gone above & beyond to help us. Your loved one will be taken care of here.
Lauren, Dr. Nikki and the rest of the staff at PortSide have been incredible to work with. The knowledge they had for the situation was spot on and the results were beyond expected. My mother seems very happy and content and it wouldn't have happened without Lauren and Portside staff! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!
From the moment I arrived on the campus of Portside I felt my mother would like it!! I was correct and she felt welcomed from Lauren in sales to the front concierge desk and the residents who introduced themselves and invited her to join them for dinner. I highly recommend this Senior living community!
I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident My mom has moved into the independent living of Portside at Grande Dunes. It's great because it has up-to-date decor. It's almost brand new, just 2 years old, and it's just beautiful. Her apartment is also beautiful, everything is updated, and it's just the right size for her. It's decently priced too. I ran into an issue with the billing department, which wasn't good, but everything else has been just wonderful and perfect. We went to an open house there before so I have tried the food, and it was great. As far as I know, there is always a lot of life going around there, a lot of movement, and that's always good at a place like that. I like that they have activities all the time. They gave my mom a little bit of a discount for her monthly rent, and it covered breakfast and dinner. I compared them with other facilities, and they were on par or even below the usual prices so I feel like it's a good value.
I visited this facility I toured Portside at Grande Dunes. I love everything. I love the site. I like the facility, the service, the food, and they do a lot of stuff. They have a lot of field trips and they have guest speakers, they have movies, they have everything, which is why it's so expensive. I went to a room and I was very pleased with the layout. It's sparkling clean. It's bright and sunny. It's just perfect. They have restaurant-like dining. It's very elegant, and you order from a menu, and they have their own chef.
I moved my dad here to Myrtle beach for him to be close by. I toured several facilities and it was a clear decision to choose Portside. From the day he arrived, he has felt comfortable and at home. The staff here is incredible from the front desk, housekeeping, maintenance to management. They assist in every way possible and they do it with a smile. Genuinely…..They work together as a team and really have the residents best interests at heart. I can attest to this as I see it on a daily basis. Two years later I moved my father-in-law in to the assisted living side. They streamlined the process for us making the transition smooth…. They are kind and caring in every way. I LOVE PORTSIDE❤️❤️❤️
The facility is pretty and well maintained. As far as the food goes, I noticed it's a rush. On the independent side they should have it cooked there not Reheated which dries the food out to the point that they leave because they are unable to eat it. Also quite a few of the weight staff are very rude. They just drop the plates in front of the resident. They are not trained.
I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident What a great place for Mom! The first thing I noticed was that not only did the folks working there seemed happy and liked their jobs, the residents all looked happy. There was always something to do and someone to do it with. Food transitioned a few times to better service and better meals. Management meets with the residents and even listens to how they can make it better. When Mom transitioned to assisted living, the process was seamless and painless. I always felt like Mom was safe and cared for. A resident isn’t just a room number. Administration, management, reception, maintenance and everyone else knew residents by name and what was going on with them. Terrific facility and staff.
After my Dad passed, it became more apparent that my mom could no longer live alone. My husband and I visited about eight assisted living facilities in the Myrtle Beach area. Portside at Grande Dunes was simply outstanding. Lauren Wolf spent several hours with us, answering questions and offering a tour. The assisted living apartments were spacious and well appointed. The dining room and event rooms reminded us of a first class hotel, nicely decorated, clean and inviting. Abi Webb helped us coordinate moving trucks and multiple deliveries as we readied my Mom's room. She even brought the paperwork to my home to be signed. Portside's facilities are beautiful but their best assets are their employees. Everyone, down to a person, is caring and compassionate. They helped my Mom adjust, wheeled her to meals on the days she wasn't feeling too energetic. They pop in for a chat, fix her TV, deliver her mail and get her to the hair salon on time. I'm so grateful to Portside for allowing my Mom to maintain her dignity and independence. I know we made a great choice.
Most everyone at Portside at Grande Dunes seems happy. They have a good Church service there onsite each week on Saturday, mom and Frank seem to be very happy. The staff is continuing to push them with physical therapy of some type pretty much every week day which is so good for them. They have many options for physical therapy too
Portside is one of the nicest in the area... I looked at 7 or 8. It is a little pricey but similar to others I visited.
Heather Meyer, Fitness Instructor is Amazing! Crescent Hospice recently did Olympics Day there and we could not have done it without Heather’s help. Such a gift to the Portside Community.
Food sometimes good they are trying to improve. Some of the menu items are not healthy or not good. Friendliness and activities very good. They don't recycle yet not good. . will work on it. Staff is good. Facility attractive. I would like to see more people in Independent living who are not on walkers.
Cannot say enough positive things about the Memory Care Unit. The staff is always friendly and can encourage and motivate my 95 year old mom to participate in activities. It is so rewarding to see her smiling again.
My dad is settling in nicely in a beautiful unit in Independent Living. From the moment we walked in to tour the facility the entire staff at Portside have been a pleasure to work with. A major shout out to Lauren, our sales coordinator. Not only was she knowledgeable, helpful and attentive to our needs but her cheerful, kind and sincere approach was top notch. Lauren had an encouraging and inspiring way about her that kept us calm during what could have been a stressful time. Thank you Lauren.
Everyone whom we have met at Portside has been welcoming and extremely helpful! Steve Mann and Abi Ganous spent so much “quality” time with us and made us feel as if we were already a part of this lovely community! We eagerly anticipate moving in to Portside at Grand Dunes.
Portside at Grande Dunes community is a wonderful place staffed by caring people, we would give them all 5 stars. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to others - my 90 year old mother-in-law is very happy there. There is also a 10% discount for military service.
I am currently a resident at Portside at Grande Dunes and most everything has been great for me so far. The move in process went smoothly. The staff is great. The meals give good alternatives if you don't want the listed entrees. The other residents here are okay, but some tend to be very cliquish. Overall, I would recommend Portside at Grande Dunes to others.
Lauren at Portside is an absolute pro and extremely kind and helpful. I went looking for memory care for my mother. She allowed all the time I needed to ask plenty of questions. Never felt rushed or like I was annoying her. She even squeezed me in for a tour when she had a full day already. Communication was as if I were the only person she had dealings with. The facility is quite impressive and all staff members I encountered were very friendly. Definitely worth your time to go see it.
I visited this facility We toured Portside at Grande Dunes. I liked the size because it can accommodate our furniture. The people were extremely friendly and very helpful. It is close to the hospital, which was another plus for us. They have a big refrigerator. The person who took us around was excellent. She explained everything and helped me out with the insurance that I had. She told me what I could do, how to handle things, and all kinds of stuff. They have activities, and some people will assist you if you need it. The building was very clean.
My mom loves her new life at Portside at Grande Dunes! The staff is very friendly, the facility is super nice, meals are good, and happy hours are a bonus! She has made many new friends there and is a regular player at all card games. Highly recommend this facility for anyone looking for a loved one or even for themselves. Check it out, you will not be disappointed!
We’ve been touring and interviewing several senior living facilities for our mother and we’re happy to say, we chose Portside at Grand Dunes. Making a decision to trust a facility for your parents care comes with great discernment, a ton of questions and a lot of expectations. Lauren Wolf, our sales coordinator and Abi our move-in coordinator have been extremely gifted with patience, kindness, empathy and a sense of humor which put our family at ease. Lauren introduced us to many residents and staff members who were equally as endearing to our questions and more importantly happy to make mom’s transition easier. Both Lauren & Abi have been extremely helpful with the application process. Portside has thought of every amenity to ensure life will be safe, convenient and happy for our mom. We’re thinking mom will be too busy for us now!
Helped my father move in a few weeks ago. Some residents immediately started introducing him around and the staff have all been great. They helped out so much to accommodate us at a very stressful time. Lauren went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly for the move-in. The only hiccup was with some confusion over getting his meds sorted out but that finally got resolved. I definitely recommend this facility to anyone in the Myrtle Beach area looking for an assisted living community.
I visited this facility I toured Portside at Grande Dunes. It was great. The people are very caring and very nice. The place itself is beautiful. A very nice place. They had meals and once a week cleaned the apartment. They have a lot of amenities. Saltwater pool and it's a warm pool. They have all kinds of activities. They have craft and exercise training.
This is a stunningly beautiful community. People are warm and the staff is so hospitable. They are also pet friendly...How sweet.
Care & food did improve. The management does listen and will improve the issues (if you talk to upper management). Make sure they are certified and or trained properly to assist for certain conditions. Like my mom was wearing a back brace after a back up operation and they were unable to put this brace on properly and none of them said they had ever been trained.
We are enjoying Portside, the staff that deal day to day with my parents are wonderful, kind, empathetic. While the medical staff are good, they are not easy to get ahold of so I haven't enjoyed that as much. The front desk people are wonderful and nice with my parents, the dining room staff have lots of patience! We have enjoyed the food here, surprisingly. The homemade soups are very good. My father is dying, but we will be keeping my mom in the same lovely two bedroom unit. It's large and airy.
Very pleasant. All staff Very pleasant and knowledgeable.
