Patty and I just wanted to say one more Thank you to all of you and the entire staff at Dirigo Pines for taking such good care of our Mom during her time there. You really do treat your residents like family with endless kindness and compassion. Mom wasn't able to live her final years at home but I am so happy that she ended up finding a new home at Dirigo Pines. I also want to thank you all for making things so easy for us in every way during an otherwise difficult week of cleaning out my mom's room while also preparing for her funeral services. Every request that I had or issue that had to be worked out was met with the enthusiastic support and cooperation that the Dirigo team always delivers. Thank you and God Bless all of you and the entire Dirigo Pines staff. Greg and Patty Simon and family
Great place. Sleep all day up all night
We had a wonderful lunch after our tour of this facility. Nicely appointed, clean and quiet place to live. Check it out.
I''m in the process of moving into an apartment at Dirigo Pines Inn. I don''t have to sell my house right away and I have a lot of downsizing. Dirigo has been very helpful so far, providing a lot of services with more to come once I move in. Although I''ll still do some cooking in the great kitchen, the food is good at the provided meals. I''m also looking forward to having someone else do the cleaning.
Dirigo Pines, I am a widow and was living in a very comfortable large home and decided I needed a change so here I am. I made the change, it was a hard decision but I am content and there is much going on. We have a delightful Chef that knows how to present a delicious menu, no more cooking for me!! I have my 2 cats with me and they both enjoy the peaceful life. So make an appointment and check things out. ~Alba
I love Dirigo Pines! They offer wonderful services, from the warmth and competence at the reception desk to the excellent food and welcoming atmosphere for residents and guests alike. Special kudos to the Activities planning; terrific quantity and variety of activities tailored to residents'' preferences and needs. Thanks to all the hardworking staff!
Our visit to Dirigo Pines was extremely constructive. We were met by [name removed], who spent ample time with us explaining the overall mission of their unit and how we could fit into it. We then took a brief tour of the facility and frankly, we were extremely impressed and can easily imagine ourselves living here for the rest of our lives. Everything was extremely clean, and the organization seemed maintained very well, using common sense at every turn.
My friends father is being taken well care of by staff. Their food looks healthy, lots of activities and people bring their pets when they come to visit.
Special "thank you" goes out to Dirigo Pines for serving a fabulous Thanksgiving Dinner to many residents and family members. Chef Lewis and his wonderful hard-working staff did a outstanding job in serving the residents in the main dinning room and other dinning rooms on each floor. The staff harmoniously had the dinning room under their control. Our family is blessed to be part of Dirigo Pines, and thank Management and staff for all your kindness and support...
So nice to hear residents compliment the Life Enrichment team which my wide gives 110%.
Dirigo Pines offers a community in the best sense of the word. Our experience here is that people in the inn and in the cottages genuinely care for one another. Importantly, the administration supports and encourages the thriving of the community in many ways. Staff members are sensitive to the fact that older people vary considerably in their abilities and show respect for individuals in that range of variation. I find that the physical beauty of the place is joined with the caring attitudes of the residents and the staff form a positive place to live.
The kitchen is extremely accommodating and looks out for the best interest of the community. They are friendly both in the dining rooms and if you run into them in the hallways!
Life enrichment is essential to the life of all residents at dirigo pines.
Great food! Thank you, Lew!
The staff at Dirigo Pines are consistently helpful and go out of their way handle problems that arrive. They are also open to suggestions we propose for additional projects or changes. It makes me feel comfortable living here.
I visited this facility Dirigo Pines was a very clean and nice-looking place. We toured the area, and we talked to several people on the staff, and they all seemed accommodating. The layout and the design were very nice, and they took a lot of care in keeping it clean. Cleanliness is the most important part. The staff members were professional and polite. They seemed to be caring.
My stepmother has resided at Dirigo Pines for the past four years, beginning in Independent Living and now in the memory care Arbor Unit. Throughout her time there, she has received wonderful, high-quality care that has made her life as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. One of the most important aspects of her care has been the low staff turnover. This consistency has allowed both my stepmother and the staff to genuinely know and trust each other, which has greatly contributed to the quality of care she receives. The compassionate and professional attention she receives brings our family peace of mind, knowing she is being cared for in such a supportive and respectful environment. The social activities provided are appropriate and have brought her much joy. Additionally, medical support is excellent—her primary care provider visits Dirigo Pines weekly, which makes accessing medical care simple and seamless. Based on our experience over the past four years, I would gladly choose and recommend Dirigo Pines again.
I helped my parents move into Dirigo Pines in November 2021. My dad passed away soon after, but my mom continued to live happily at Dirigo Pines until she died in July 2025. From the beginning, I was impressed by the caring professionalism of all the staff members, from the executive director to the servers in the dining room. Every single person at Dirigo Pines interacted with my mom and dad with dignity, compassion and humor. Chef Lew organized a special 90th birthday tea party for mom. Karen, a wonderful nurse in Meadowbrook, called me as soon as she noticed that my mom was beginning to decline. Mikka, a CNA with the heart of an angel, made my mom feel loved and valued until the end.
Everyone was very helpful and professional during the whole process from touring the facility to moving in and getting settled. The staff have great communication with each other so when we were running into some problems and certain precautions needed to be taken, everyone that would deal with my aunt knew what to do and how to deal with the situation from the nurses to the front desk staff.
My children and I have volunteered at various events at Dirigo Pines throughout the last few years, and they are always so gracious and welcoming. We absolutely love, making cards, sharing hellos and smiles, and watching the faces of the residents light up as we walk through the beautiful facility and chat with them about their life experiences. With Christmas coming up soon, my kids have already asked when we can return to make ornaments with our friends at Dirigo Pines, we cannot wait to return and volunteer again!
I am/was a resident of this facility My experience as a resident of Dirigo Pines has been very good so far. I have a one-bedroom, which is very nice. It's on the second floor. There are all kinds of activities and all kinds of amenities. The food is wonderful. It's like restaurant style. I hated to cook and I would not eat a lot, so even though it's very expensive compared to what I had been doing, still I get a lot for my money. My interactions with the staff are wonderful. They're really nice. When I moved in, there was no hot water in the washer/dryer in the unit. It didn't work. But they put in a new washer and dryer, and they got the hot water to work, so I am satisfied. Initially, it wasn't great, but the maintenance came and fixed it right away. Also, they have a beautiful library, just two apartments down from me. The landscaping is nicer and fancier than in the other place.
I visited this facility We visited Dirigo Pines and we would be very happy for my parents to go there. They showed us the game room, the dining areas, the sitting areas, and the outside walking trails. They showed us everything. The facility was very clean and very nice. The staff was very good.
My father is a long time satisfied and happy resident of Dirigo Pines. This past weekend marked his 100th birthday and the family held a birthday party for him at DP. The Dirigo Pines staff was most accommodating in helping us to plan for, set up and hold our celebration. We could have not been more satisfied with the facility or with the outstanding support that we received, particularly from Lewis, who was there from set up to departure to make certain that all went well at the event. This was a very important event for our family and the Dirigo staff made certain that it went off without a hitch. Many thanks for the party and for all that you do for Great Grampy.
This is a beautiful retirement community, but there is one glaring problem - the food served is not good - it is clearly pre-packed in bulk and microwaved for individual serving, similar to many large organizations which are trying to cut their costs. But this is a high class retirement community. It should be serving far better food and it should be prepared in its kitchen from scratch. The quality of food is very important for retirement communities.
More than a year ago, my brother was was diagnosed with dementia. He had always lived alone but now needed help with everything. Although I live out of state, I became his guardian and set out to help move him into a place where he’d be safe, well cared for, and able to enjoy his remaining years. After an extensive search, I decided that the memory care unit in Dirigo would be a good choice, and in January we moved him in. I must admit that I had my concerns about being 1000 miles away and unable to visit often to see firsthand his care and wellbeing. However we spoke frequently over the phone, and each time I’d him ask how things were really going he always said, “Oh they couldn’t be better”. I believe he meant it! In October, he suffered a major cardio event from a preexisting issue that made it necessary to begin palliative care. I was privileged to spend his remaining 3 weeks with him in Dirigo which also allowed me to witness firsthand the care and love he had been receiving all along. There are many on the staff who obviously contributed to his excellent care and happiness during his time that I would like to thank. However, there are a few who’s names stand out me: Nathan, Stephanie, Sarah, Jackson, Rachael Miller I particularly want to thank 2 others for going above and beyond the call of duty to make my brother’s remaining time full and enjoyable. Monica Nicknair, Life Enrichment manager for her excellence in drawing him out and ensuring that his days were active and happy. And Jessica Lundquist, who took the time to really get to know him, becoming a friend who listened to his needs and concerns, advocating for him when he needed it - key to his happiness and comfort at Dirigo.
