The Summit of Coralville deserves 5 stars. The ladies who came into Petland Iowa City were an absolute joy to host — you can tell they genuinely love what they do and care deeply about the residents. They shared so many thoughtful details about the fun, engagement, and day-to-day support they provide, and it was clear they take real pride in creating a warm, positive environment. They also had a blast spending time with our pets and picking out gifts for the animals in their lives, which made our day. We even started brainstorming ways to partner together and bring some puppy visits to The Summit for residents to enjoy. If you’re looking for an assisted living community where the staff is upbeat, compassionate, and truly invested in the people they serve, I can’t recommend The Summit of Coralville enough. — Ron, President of Petland Iowa City
Pat and I moved to Summit (Bridgewater) 18 months ago. We are in our early 80's and both had ailments that made life difficult running our house. We researched and visited 5 retirement facilities and Summit was clearly the most impressive. We have not regretted our decision; this place is fabulous. Staff are happy, welcoming, helpful, and competent. The food is over-the-top great. We get at least 7 choices of tasty, well presented meals at each sitting. Exercise staff, programs and facilities are top notch. The social/entertainment events scheduled are numerous and quality. We are pleased to call this home. Loving our apartment.
I only gave 4 stars but am hopeful that in a few months I can give 5! I moved my love one in about 2 years ago, and she loved the activities, food and people. She advanced and needed more assistance with nursing and such, we had one bad experience and when I address this they shared they had new management and nursing in place to change things around. Since then the nurses and leaders have communicated well with me about my love one and I am hopeful and believe that it's heading in the best direction. I will say the staff has gone above and beyond looking out for my loved one sharing things with me, emailing me and keeping me in the loop which is so so important. There is a plan in place for my loved one I feel the staff knows her and her needs . I can leave feeling that she is being cared for and safe which is the best feeling, thanks to this staff.
An excellent place, service, the best, have many programs, music, piano, string bands, place is exceptional clean, staff caring, problem solvers, professional chef, well rounded meals for the older people, really special facility! I would highly recommend!!!
Close to university medical stuff, great food and such attentive staff
The management staff and nursing staff are exceptional! They are kind, caring and loving to their tenants. 10 out of 10 would recommend!
I recently toured The Summit at Coralville. I help a person in another assisted living as well as I had my mother in a dementia unit for five years. I feel like I understand the needs of the resident. I was extremely impressed with the facility and the friendliness of the staff. I feel the staff is your lifeline. So with the absolutely beautiful facility this place is a winner. The things we miss when we give up our homes. But you will not miss at this facility. They may sound simple but the washer dryer in every unit, the dishwasher, the larger stove and refrigerator, the easy walk in shower, and blinds that allow the sun in without losing your privacy. Parts of everyday life for all of us. Then top it off with the pool, the fitness center, the hair salon, the PT area, the piano, the Bistro, the dining room for the evening, even a bar for celebrations, rooms where you can tinker or do carpentry, and a small chapel. They even care about what you see when you look out . Again what a wonderful place. If you have to change from one level of care to another you can remain in the same facility. If you see happy and friendly staff and your basics needs are taken care of emotionally and physically it is not a difficult choice to make. I recommend you see for yourself and ask all the questions you can think of. Only you know the needs of your loved ones.
Great staff and a beautiful community!
I have been there for several activities and they have excellent staff to aide the residents. It’s a clean inviting environment
Very nice and clean facility. Great and easy location.
Such a beautiful facility with a wide array of amenities!
Beautiful building with a warm and welcoming atmosphere! The staff truly cares about the residents and goes above and beyond to provide great care. There are so many meaningful and engaging activities that give residents opportunities to socialize, stay active, and enjoy each day. It’s clear that the team puts a lot of heart into creating a place where residents feel cared for, valued, and at home. Highly recommend!
The Summit of Coralville is a beautiful community with a welcoming atmosphere. They offer many different activities for their residents and opportunities to support the community. You can tell they really care about creating a great place to call home!
Hi! This is just a short note to let you know what our experience has been with Shawna Klein and Amberly Bult. Barb and I are members of The Summit's Rock Steady Boxing program. We were here when Shawna was promoted to Director of Facets. When this occurred we almost immediately noticed a major difference in the number and quality of events and activities that Grand Living/The Summit was offering. The obvious reason for this positive change was, we believe, Shawna's involvement. Shawna is a great "people person" who also has the creativity and organizational ability to drive what we think is the best events and activity program in Eastern Iowa. (We've seen a few.) Said another way, if you're a family that's interested in the enrichment of a family member's life in what is going to be their final years, you can't beat what's happening at The Summit of Coralville. As you know, Amberly Bult was recently hired as the Director of Fitness. From our perspective, we think Amberly and Shawna have been cut from the same piece of cloth. Besides her creativity and organizational skills, Amberly is the only fitness instructor that I have seen in my life who can tell you what muscle groups are going to "feel it" before you start a new exercise. (It's always great to get a warning of what's going to hurt before it hurts.) Her knowledge of physiology is superb. Amberly is also excellent at observing and adjusting the pace of an exercise activity to make sure that individuals are not being overtaxed. She is not some ex-Marine meathead who is on a crusade for muscle mass. She is very much aware that individuals our age are more interested in the health and social benefits of exercise than body building. (Believe it or not, we have seen other senior communities where Fitness Directors (if they have one) are ex-Marine types.) Bottomline, Amberly makes exercise fun. Barb and I absolutely love our Slash and our Amee Whamee. We think they are major assets in what The Summit offers to Eastern Iowa and our Rock Steady Boxing family. Spread the word. Tom & Barb King
Beautiful Senior Living Community, with Fine Dining, and prompt professional Maintenance and Customer Service. A 10 year old community that is extremely well maintained inside and out! First Class in Every Concept. Wonderful daily Activites, music, concerts, pool, exercise classes, and a first class gym. Salon on site as well as physical therapists. Maintenance staff are prompt, with service 7 days a week! Professional, Caring, and Courtious staff. A wonderful place to call home.
The Summit of Coralville is such a wonderful and inviting environment to live in or bring you love one to. You are greated with a warm welcome as soon as you walk thought the door. The staff here treats everyone like family. They have wonderful activities and other amenities the you really can't find anywhere else. So happy that we chose The Summit of Coralville for my love one. Truly it makes me feel at ease knowing my love one is here.
My husband, Tom King, has been attending Rock Steady Boxing for over two years to help manage his Parkinson's disease. We drive from Marion 2 times a week. The staff is very courteous and friendly and easy to interact with. Shona, McKenna, Megan A. and Taylor WONDERFUL. We attended the Veterans Day activities which were very meaningful and we truly enjoyed ourselves.
My Mom has lived at Summit for 2+ years. First, in independent living and now in Memory Care. Family visits her every day. She does most of her cares but needs orientation throughout the day with her memory and with resulting anxiety. On Memory Care there are staff working 24 hours a day so they are there if she needs any questions answered or concerns dealt with. The staff at Summit have always been kind and helpful with Mom, from the offices to the front desk to the housekeeping and maintenance staff and dietary, and most importantly to the care and therapy staff. I can’t say enough good things about the people who work at the Summit. I can’t thank them enough.
Shawna and the Life Enrichment team are a local treasure! The array of activities and special events are outstanding. The upbeat and big-hearted staff know residents' interests well. The team engages everyone in a fun and respectful way to truly enrich the well-being of residents AND their families. Family is always welcome and we have a great time. Senior "Living" is alive and well at the Summit.
A beautiful building with great people, both residents and staff included! The events are plentiful and diverse with enough activities to interest everyone. Staff is welcoming and caring.
The Summit of Coralville is an absolutely beautiful community! From the moment you walk in, you can tell how much care and attention goes into creating a warm, welcoming environment. What really stands out, though, is the leadership. Kareicia, the Executive Director, genuinely cares about the people in her community and puts so much heart into what she does. Her compassion, dedication, and commitment to making The Summit a wonderful place for residents, families, and staff truly show. Beautiful community, wonderful atmosphere, and even better people. The Summit of Coralville is very lucky to have Kareicia leading their team!
I’ve seen a lot of positive changes at The Summit of Coralville recently. The overall atmosphere feels different in a really good way. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and you can tell there is a real effort being made to make things better for the residents and their families. The new Executive Director has been a great addition. She is involved, approachable, and actually takes the time to listen and follow up when something needs attention. It’s nice to see an Executive Director who is present throughout the community and takes the time to get to know the residents, families, and staff. There is definitely a new energy at The Summit. Communication and teamwork seem to be improving, and it feels like everyone is working together toward the same goal. The events and activities they put together are also amazing! It’s so nice to see residents having fun, socializing, and enjoying themselves. The team really puts a lot of thought and effort into creating special experiences for the residents and their families. I also have to mention the culinary department. The food is amazing, and you can tell the culinary team takes pride in what they serve. From everyday meals to special events, they do such a great job with the food and presentation. You can see that the entire team is putting in the work to make meaningful changes, and I’m excited to see The Summit continue moving in such a positive direction!
I visited the Summit today. What a gorgeous building! I had a wonderful tour from Nicole. She was so knowledgeable about her the building and all that it has to offer. I was so impressed with how many activities they offer and the variety of activities. The staff was very friendly.
Beautiful building! Nicole and her team were professional, polite, and so knowledgeable!
The people who make up a senior living community are what matter most, and from what I know about the team at The Summit of Coralville, they truly care about the residents they serve. Their commitment, compassion, and professionalism are exactly the qualities families should look for. I would recommend The Summit of Coralville to anyone exploring senior living options.
Friendly, professional staff!
In June of 2023 I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. I immediately learned of the Rock Steady Boxing Program through one of my daughter in law’s who had worked with someone at Stanford Hospital who had been a coach in the program. The day after I was diagnosed I joined a program in my community. I have now been committed to the Summit Rock Steady Program for close to three years now and I love it. It’s challenging, it’s hard but we always laugh and groan through each session. The staff and the residents are always friendly and knowledgeable. Our coaches are kind, very informed, supportive and creative in their approach to our disease and each of our own symptoms and strengths. We have access to state of the art strength building equipment and a lovely swimming pool has also been available for a great workout. I completely believe my commitment and our coaches commitment to this program and each of us is one of the best RX along with your neurological team. I drive an hour each way to attend and it’s worth every second of the drive.
This place is amazing! I love the clean welcoming atmosphere... friendly residents and the staff are delightfully caring. Especially the office manager is so kind and helpful. Couldn't find a more joy filled place to live.
Every time I have come to visit the staff has been extremely helpful, kind and generous. I see how they serve the people and I know they care for the residents deeply. I have come for special events they host and love seeing all the joy the residents have. I can’t wait for the next event!
I love attending activities.
I love visiting my friends and family at The Summit of Coralville. Staff, residents, and families are amazing.
Grand Living at Bridgewater is a beautiful upscale senior living community that has many impressive amenities. Their staff is extremely professional and very warm & welcoming. I loved the Grand Piano right off the lobby that was music playing throughout the day. Their food, activities, exercise room, and the all female memory unit definitely make them stand out from other facilities.
Great facility! We chose this retirement community for our father because of the unparalleled activities, a beautiful building and environment, great cuisine and helpful staff.
Just returned from a tour of Grandliving in Coralville with a complementary lunch. The apartments are very well designed for comfortable living with laundry in the unit and large walk-in closets. I am particularly impressed by the quality of the food in the dining room. There are many healthy and easily digested options. The prices are in the normal range, but the quality is very high.
We are pleased with our decision to move to Grand Living at Bridgewater. We appreciate each of the many staff who work here in all of the various services - dining, housekeeping, maintenance and the administrative staff. And we like and enjoy the residents who really seem like our new friends. All of the meals, lunch and dinner are delicious. We like that the meals are included in our monthly fee and so most of the residents go to the dining room for meals and so there is especially much fellowship with all our friends. Lastly, we want to mention that there are many interesting activities in which for us to participate. I think you can see we are very please with our choice to live here and why we have chosen Grand Living. Cherie and Bernie Cremers
My mother’s husband passed away in NE and we kids brought her to IA to live near us. Because she had been diagnosed with dementia, we wanted to find her a safe place to live as she couldn’t take care of her home. We looked at several places who had a combination of independent, assisted and memory care with an activity component as a part of their care. We were immediately impressed with the clean modern appearance of the building, the helpfulness of the front desk staff, the compassion of the directors, the nurses, the caretakers, the activity directors, especially in the Lavender Unit memory care where mom has been since June 2023. The memory care units are very active and intermix with the rest of the building for monthly activities, which include bringing in local musical groups, The meals are delicious. Mom is very happy here and loved by the people who take care of her daily and weekly. WE couldn’t be happier with our choice of Grand Living for our mom, and hope that she is able to enjoy Grand Living for the years to come.
Recently toured here for my mother. The sales staff is amazing and so helpful. Katie made us feel at home from the moment we stepped through the door. This place and their staff is top notch. Definitely planning on getting mother in here ASAP!!!!
Great staff and Facets programs.
The most caring staff around. My mom loves living here and I have peace of mind knowing she is safe. There are so many activities to keep her busy and weekly bus trips which is a highlight for her. The common areas and apartments are gorgeous and feel like home.
My mother lived here from November, 2022 to December, 2023 when she passed away. She transitioned very quickly after moving from NW Iowa where she lived her entire life previously. The food was exceptional and the staff very caring. The activities were varied and offered something for everyone. At the time they were short-staffed and we had to hire outside assistance which worked out fairly well. The only suggestion I would recommend is a simpler telephone system. It was difficult to manage for all of us including my mother. All in all Grand Living was a positive experience for my family.
