Found the facility clean, friendly, professional and comfortable feeling. Occupants seemed to enjoy their surroundings and others around them. Some sat outside talking with each other. Staff seemed very involved with residents. My guide was very professional and friendly.
Very pretty place inside and outside with a friendly staff. Our tour guide [name removed] was very friendly and helpful. The units are beautiful.
Our mother moved in 12/24 and it was a perfect transition from independent living to assisted living. The company went through ownership changes during her stay at Camellia, the staff was always strong and constant in their devotion to her and others. I spent quite a bit of time with Mom and found it to always be an uplifting enviorment. She eventually scored her 2BR with balcony and loved the last of her days. It takes a special calling to work in the world of seniors with personality changes and working with the family's. Nichole, Michelle, Karen, Rachell, I can go on an on and don't want to leave anyone out, have always been easy to work with and we knew they were there on behalf of Mom and her neighbors. It is a community and they loved my Mom. XOXO
Camellia is an amazing place! It isn't just a beautiful building and inviting grounds, it is the culture of the staff who work there that make it so amazing! Everyone, and I mean everyone from all departments, greets you with a smile and are friendly. The facility provides many life enriching activities or excursions while not being over-stimulating. My grandmother lived in the Memory Care unit for 2 years. Not only did they provide her with exceptional care for her condition, but they also provided her with many opportunities to engage in quality-of-life promoting activities. The residents of Memory Care are far from forgotten as they are included and given the opportunity to participate with supervision from staff with the activities outside of their unit. Family is always encouraged to attend as well. Camellia really feels like "Home."
The facility had most of what I am looking for. I enjoyed my visit and will try to make another visit in the fall.
I toured the one bedroom condo and thought it was perfect for me. Plenty of space for storage, good size rooms, and all utilities included. The dining was inviting and plenty of tables. The best part was the number of activities available with a wide variety of options. Pets are welcomed which pleased me. The residents I met were friendly and welcomed me with open arms.
Both of my parents have been residents at the Camellia at Deerwood for several years. Executive Director Nicole Briggs leads this amazing caregiving team with compassion, dignity & honor. Both Nicole & Wellness Director TraVoya Hall-Moultrie truly care about their residents & are sincerely the most incredible advocates when it comes to our parents health, wellness & quality of life!! They truly are a blessing in our families life journey!!!
If there was a higher grade than 5, I would give it. I moved my parents from the Tampa area to Camillia at Deerwood. They had lived in their home for 65 years, so to say I was nervous would be an understatement. My mother is now in independent living and my father is in memory care. My mother is "happier than she has been in years". That is her words, not mine. She continues to say, "I am on a cruise ship, and everyone waits on me". My father is in memory care and Miss Michelle has taken such great care of him. This was a very nervous move as their son, but it was the best decision I could have ever made. Miss Nicole (ED) and Miss Michelle (the head of memory care) have been so wonderful. I immediately felt like I had family members taking over for me during a very stressful time. I cannot say enough great things about Camillia at Deerwood. Even now when I go to visit, I am greeted as a family member, not as a visitor. It is all about family. I hope to be at Camillia one day.
The Camillia is bright, clean and really beautiful. The rooms are spacious and bright. It is only about 15 years old, so looks newer and brighter than other places we have toured. Great location, close to shopping and other restaurants when you want to go off-campus. [name removed], who gave us the tour, is a fabulously bright, happy person and just a joy to be around. The only downside was the food. We had lunch at the facility, and maybe it was an off day or could have been what we ordered, but it didn’t taste like Chef prepared foods that are available other places. It wasn’t terrible, just average, but could be improved. Service though was excellent. Overall would give it a 4.5 out of 5.
Very comfortable and homey atmosphere. Residents appeared to be content to be there. Very nice activity areas and programs.
1. We've felt very welcome here from the first day on met some fine people and have enjoyed several activities. 2. Overall cleanliness is excellent. public restrooms are kept clean and we have maid service at the apartment once a week 3. Everyone including the staff is very friendly. 4. We are an independent living, so no care is necessary at this point. 5. The staff is efficient and friendly. There doesn't seem to be a large turnover. Most of the staff has been here for years. 6. We love the food. Haven't had a bad meal since we've been here. I understand the kitchen staff was changed and a new chef and Staff was hired this summer. Residence say the food is much better since then. 7. A lot of activities and crafts. 8. Being here only three weeks we'll have to see how the value is. We have what we think is a great rate on a large 3 two bedroom apartment.
My Family and I are incredibly grateful for the service, attention and compassion that we were shown when coming to this facility. Jennifer Rapp is absolutely AMAZING and has helped my grandfather in so many ways. She went above and beyond for complete strangers and now my grandfather has now gotten back his quality of life. Thank you so much!!!!!
I can't say enough about Jennifer Rapp! She went above and beyond for my mother-in-law and father-in-law. They were in a terrible facility where my MIL was injured and Jennifer showed such compassion in her efforts to help us relocate my in-laws to this wonderful facility where they would be happy , safe and healthy. My father-in-law says 'you picked the perfect place for us" and thanks to Jennifer this is now his home. Sadly my MIL passed away but not before seeing how great a home they were now in and how caring Jennifer is. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Jennifer, I haven't come across many people like you in this profession and you are a blessing!
A Place for Mom turned us on to Camellia (thank you [name removed]!) And we fell in love with the place the minute we walked in. [name removed] immediately became the angel on my shoulder through a long, arduous process and I couldn't have done it without her. The community is bright, cheerful, buzzing with activity and full of life! Today my mother became a resident. I look forward to meeting/working with the rest of the staff. I know they will be just as amazing. Thank you Camellia and A Place For Mom!
The process of moving a parent into assisted living is daunting at best, and a mind numbing process! Camellia at Deerwood happens to be the first community we toured and little did I know that Jennifer Rapp would become the angel on my shoulder. She has helped me through every step the way and I couldn't have done it without her. Camellia, Jennifer and their new Executive Director, Nicole, are the 'cream of the crop' and today my mother became a resident. I very much look forward to working with the rest of the staff too. Thank you Jennifer..you are the best!
My mom has been at Camellia by Deerwood for more than two years now. The management, the staff, and the fellow residences are friendly and caring. The opportunities to interact abound. I would recommend this community for anyone who is looking for the next phase of living in an independent senior living community.
I would give Camellia at Deerwood 10 stars if I could. What originally began as an attempt to move my loved one into independent living quickly transitioned into memory care. First, the facility is extremely nice and inviting. The real key here though is the staff. Travoya and Michelle in memory care have been so good to work with and I feel like my loved one is in really caring and competent hands. The waitresses in the dining area, housekeeping, maintenance and everyone at the front desk have also been so pleasant, kind and helpful. Jennifer Rapp is an angel. This has been such a tough transition for my loved one and me but Jennifer has guided us through it repeatedly going above and beyond. Without Jennifer, I don't know how we would have made it through the past couple of weeks. Jennifer is such an asset to the community and we are so very thankful for her -- and Camellia.
Camellia is a great facility for my dad. Everyone is very friendly and caring. The facility is lovely, clean with many activities. It’s a great place.
The dining staff has high turnover. Corporate reorganization has resulted in lots of changes. No current sales staff but being worked on lots of movement in and out currently. Biggest challenge is food and dining staff @ Camilia. The facility is friendly and has a warm atmosphere.
The entire staff strives to make this a loving and comfortable home for all residents. Residence are encouraged to eat with others in the dining area and join as many activities as they feel comfortable. There are multiple opportunities for outings, including lunch and shopping. The Physical Therapy team is top notch and the director of nursing is truly an angel.
Was an overall good experience. Very attentive to requests. We would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had.
Camellia at Deerwood is a wonderful place. My mom has been there over 2.5 years. She loves it there! Staff are caring, and treat her with dignity and respect. Now that she is needing more assistance, I am amazed at how the staff treat her as if she is part of their family. I don't have to worry because I know mom is being taken care of. I highly recommend Camellia at Deerwood as a place for your aging parent.
We have a great experience with Camille. The facility is always clean. The staff is amazing. Caring and loving. My Dad is in memory care and needs extra care. The staff is always in tune to his needs. He enjoys the meals. He is on a special diet and they always make sure his needs are met. The cost is somewhat high but we tried several other places where he was not taken care of and ended in the hospital. We sleep good at night knowing he is safe and happy.
I was so pleased with the friendliness of the staff and residents of Camellia At Deerwood that it was hands down the perfect place for my mother. She enjoys the beautiful atmosphere and all the daily activities planned. We feel totally satisfied with choosing Camellia At Deerwood!
I would highly recommend it. It has been a great place for my mom to stay active and meet new friends.
Camellia at Deerwood is an amazing community the residents and staff are incredible. If you are looking for a place for your loved one it's the perfect place.
The administrative people I've dealt with seem sincerely engaged with the residents welfare and happiness. Apartment sizes are comfortable. Not too small.
I visited this facility We went to Camellia at Deerwood for my ward. We liked everything about it, the staff, the availability of activities, and the socialization. The staff was very professional and engaging. They talked to the ward to see what her likes and dislikes were. They have a dining room where they come and take your order. They have waiters and you get to order from a menu, three meals a day. The rooms are nice and everything is airy. Everything is nicely carpeted, cleaned, and painted. My ward, who I took, has been adamant about not moving at all. And before we left, she said, "I like this place."
We had a short period of time to find an Assisted Living home for our mom. We toured a number of places which seemed ok, and even came with some good recommendations, but once we toured Camellia, it was very obvious that this was the place for my mom (what a relief!). Our second visit was during happy hour and even though she can barely walk, my mom asked if it was ok for her to go up and dance! Seeing her dance with that smile on her face meant the world to me, and our Sales Director Victoria said it absolutely made her day. Victoria was absolutely wonderful! She is honest, compassionate, friendly, knowledgeable, and caring. There is a reason she has been there so long. All the people we met during our visits shared those same traits. This place really fosters that type of culture. My mom has only been there a few weeks, but Camellia has certainly lived up to my high expectations so far. All the staff we have dealt with have been so friendly, outgoing and helpful! From the people at the front desk (Karen, Rachael), Fitness coordinator Emily, The Health and Wellness Staff led by Nurse Travoya (so nice and helpful) Kim and others, Andrea who has helped with Laundry and bedding, and therapists Stephanie and Kim and many others. My brother and sister share these same feelings, but the most important aspect is that my mom is loving it! She is already doing many activities thanks to the encouragement and friendliness of the staff. If you are looking for a place for a loved one, be sure to visit Camellia!!!! Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Camellia!!!
The staff at Camellia at Deerwood are all very attentive, friendly, helpful. I definitely recommend this facility to others.
I visited Camellia at Deerwood about two years ago in an effort to find a future home for my mom. My first impression upon walking through the door was “this looks like a Disney World hotel!“ And seriously, through, and through the employees, the apartments, the service, the dining, the pool, everything was at the highest standards! I’m pleased to report that my mom moved in to Camellia at Deerwood in February 2024. The staff has been so kind and welcoming, as have been all of the residents. She is making new friends every day loves her apartment, and feels very safe. I would highly recommend this community. Suzanne Simon has been wonderful throughout the process. She is always checking in how things are going, even though her job is sales, and she has clearly already made the sale. Do not hesitate to explore Camellia at Deerwood if you are looking for independent, living, assisted-living, or member care for a loved one. We are beyond pleased with our decision!
My husband and I toured Camellia at Deerwood with Suzanne a few months ago in search of an independent living community for my husband's mother. Suzanne spent a lot of time with us making sure all of questions and needs were addressed. We toured other senior independent living communities in the area, and we kept coming back to Camellia. We were in search of a vibrant, active group setting and felt the activities and lively atmosphere at Camellia was a good match for my husbands’s mother. We are happy to say that we moved her into Camelia at Deerwood three months ago and she couldn’t be happier! The staff are very involved and attentive to the residence needs. The other residents have gone out of their way to welcome my mother-in-law and make her feel comfortable. Suzanne was very communicative regarding the coordination of our mother-in-law’s out of state move and has kindly followed up with us since she’s moved in to make sure everything is going smoothly. We can’t recommend Suzanne’s services and Camellia at Deerwood highly enough!
We found the perfect home for my mother-in-law! From the moment we walked through their doors to her actual move-in we were treated with kindness, care and smiles! Suzanne is one of the sweetest individuals. Not only is she extremely professional and helpful but she made us (most importantly my mother-in-law) feel so at ease with her caring qualities and smile. We knew within minutes this is where we wanted her to live. I feel Suzanne went above and beyond answering questions in helping us make this life decision. As we walked through the facility that initial day and two other times everyone we came in contact with was very helpful. The resident themselves were happy and welcoming. My husband and I live out of town so we’re extremely grateful that Camillia has welcomed my mother-in-law with open arms like family!
If you are looking for a place for your aging parent, look no further. My only wish is that she would’ve moved in a few years earlier. Everyone there, from housekeeping to marketing is welcoming and genuine.
Camelia has been home to my mom for nearly a decade. They have been fabulous in very aspect of her care. We are so thankful for the attentive and responsive staff. They truly care. The facility is well maintained, the food is very good and the pricing is very reasonable for their excellent service. As an update (2023), my mom moved into their memory unit this past year and has really be thriving there. The care is off the charts terrific. Such a kind and caring staff!!!
